Our fifth (and possibly final) interview! We found ourselves in the heart of Middlebury at the Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op. We spoke with Kira Winslow, the produce manager at the Co-op, we conducted our interview in a near by conference room. Where Kira talked about the relationships between farms and the co-op. She also talked a little about the co-op in general in how they strive to support not only farms but also the broader community. After the interview we were able to collect b-roll of the produce department. We also interviewed 3 shoppers wonder why they choose to shop at the co-op. There responses were very similar and all of them said they enjoy supporting farmers.

Our fourth interview took place after multiple complications we were able to meet with Carol at her South Burlington office. Carol is the director of Common Roots which is a non-profit focused on food based education. They currently work with students K-5 within the South Burlington School District. Carol shared multiple success stories of students that were apart of the program and have adjusted there eating habits. After there experience in the Farm to School program. Which teaches about 900 students per year. Where students learn how food is grown and cooked. With the hope of introducing healthy eating habits in to there everyday life. Going to common roots was a very eye opening experience and we learned so much regarding all of the programs Common Roots operates. We are looking forward to our retreat this weekend!

Our second interview! We really crammed our interviews into a few weeks! I am a CSA member at this farm so I had been there many times and had met the farmers before as well. While Meredith was lost, I talked with Spencer about the project and about farming. We first took a walk around the farm and we had a conversation about farming, his path to farming and how community supports him. We did not film this, it just loosed us up! We set up on of the greenhouses were spinach and lettuce seeds grew under a cloth and a barn cat rubbed against the tripod. Spencer, the co-owner of Elmer Farm, talked on camera about his farm and career path. Our interview was briefly interrupted by his delivery truck. Spencer joked, "you wait all day for the delivery and it comes when you are busy!". The interview went smoothly and we got a lot of great information about how community supports their farm and about the CSA. Meredith and I walked around the farm once more with our cameras to get B-roll of the sunset after we had finished. It was a great interview!
